Is the Samsung UE46B7000 Worth Considering?

By Alex May

We all know someone who had a huge flat screen Television back in the'90's. Perhaps you even had one or still have one and want to finally replace it with the newest thing in TV. Well if you are looking to replace that big black box then you have come to the understanding that big is not necessarily better. What is good now a days is not necessarily size but quality of the picture. The Samsung UE46B7000 LED Television is the perfect example that bold not big is beautiful.

Now that the big flat screen floor models have gone the way of the dinosaur and the focus has been put on quality, no longer need to fill up your living room with a huge unsightly black box. However the tough thing now is understanding what is the best and what separates one Set such as the UE46B7000 from another.

Now that you have decided to shop for that new TV like a UE46B7000 you are finding yourself getting dizzy by all the abbreviations. You can't figure out DLP from LED or CRT or HD Set. You just want to know what it all means.

CRT = Cathode Ray Tube. This type of "Big Screen" Set is basically old technology and uses electronic 'guns' to cast an image onto a large glass envelope.

High Definition relates to the amount of little dots or pixels that fill a screen. High definition is not really a type of TV but rather a moniker that covers any picture such as that on the UE46B7000 that contains a larger amount of pixels than the old style televisions.

Thirdly DLP stands for Digital Light Processing. These Television's use a huge amount of microscopic fluorescent bulbs cast onto a microscopic mirror.

Lastly and the one we want to be concerned with is the term LED or Light Emitting Diode. These Television's such as the Samsung UE46B700 LED Model consist of a series of diodes or tubes that project a great amount of light. These diodes provide a crisper and clearer picture and also provide a larger range of colours. The more the colours the more realistic and bold a picture can be.

DLP and LED are two different approaches to the same situation. They come in similar sizes and prices and are currently in competition against each other.

Picture for picture LED's are the right choice. They provide a better image than DLP particularly in the small to medium size pictures - such as the UE46B7000. Once you get past the 52" size they tend to be a little closer in quality, but overall LED definitely provides the better image.

The Samsung UE46B7000 LED Television is one of the highest quality LED Television's in its size and price range. This tV is thin but does not lack in what it takes to produce a high quality image. Samsung's picture ratio is one of the best available. What is great is that this HD image is available in a wafer thin housing that does not retract from your homes decor.

The Samsung UE46B7000 LED Model offers a full 46" screen that provide a wide screen image similar to those in theatres without being bulky and is light and fully wall mountable. With this offering from Samsung it can truly be said that bold is beautiful.
