Bad Movie Reviews

By Bruce Gutierrez

For years now, the video store was the way to get movies. Now, with internet usage exploding, movie downloads are becoming very popular. Let's look at what you might find to watch using a movie download site.

Soul Food: The tradition of Sunday dinners with Mama Joe has kept the family together for going on 40 years. When she is hospitalized with diabetes, the Sunday dinners stop. Almost immediately the family falls into turmoil, with lots of infighting and problems. Finally Mama Joe's grandson Ahmad sees what needs to be done, and Sunday dinners are revived.

China Nine Liberty 37: This is a mystifying Western in which railroad tycoons spare a gentleman from gallows in trade for killing another gunfighter. The gunfighter's girl falls for the killer and helps do his evil work. Title refers to the signpost giving distance to 2 close-by towns. Cast includes Warren Oates, Fabio Testi, Jenny Agutter, and Sam Peckinpah. (102 minutes, 1978)

Unlawful Entry: Michael and Karen Carr have had a chilling experience. Someone broke into their house, and tried to rob them. When Officer Pete Davis shows up to help, out he seems like a godsend. In the days to come they find officer Davis might be their worst nightmare.

My Stepmother is an Alien: Luscious Basinger, who knows nothing of romance or sex, weds widowed scientist Aykroyd; he desires to settle into domesticity, while her mind is only on sparing her world from devastation. Someway, Jimmy Durante clones get performed into this lowbrow, high-idea comedy. Cast includes Dan Aykroyd, Kim Basinger, Jon Lovitz, Alyson Hannigan, and Joseph Maher. (108 minutes, 1988)

A Different Story: Gays Baron and Foster get wedded to stop his deportation and then fall in love. Although the first half is surprisingly excellent, the film succumbs to conventionality. Foster is wonderful. Cast includes Perry Emperor, Meg Foster, Valerie Curtin, Peter Donat, Richard Bull, and Barbara Collentine. (108 minutes, 1978)

Stage Fright: Theater student Wyman turns covert sleuth while an actress' spouse is killed. There are some stimulating scenes however the Mr. Hitchcock misses on this one. Cast includes Marlene Dietrich, Jane Wyman, Richard Todd, Kay Walsh, Aastair Sim, Joyce Grenfell, Sybil Thorndike, and Patricia Hitchcock. (110 minutes, 1950)

Black Girl: One of the best black-oriented films of the 1970s center of focus~ the complicated relation between the title personality petit, a striving dancer, and her spiritually naive mommy Stubbs. Well performed by the complete cast; inscribed by 1. E. Franklin, and based on her play. Cast includes Brock Peters, Leslie Uggams, Claudia McNeil, Louise Stubbs, Gloria Edwards, Peggy Petit, and Red Dee. (97 minutes, 1972)

Red Planet Mars: Shocking sci-fi of scientist figuring out messages from Harms which turns out to be from The Lord. Comically absurd anti-Socialist misinformation, get it? Cast includes Peter Graves, Andrea Emperor, Marvin Miller, Herbert Berghof, Home Peters, and Vince Barnett. (87 minutes, 1952)

China Seas: In-executable to detest film with that cast, even if the tale-in regards to bizarre happenings and relations on Gable's Singapore confined transport is absurd. Cast includes Clark Gable, Jean Harlow, WaIlace Beery, Lewis Rock, Rosalind Russell, Dudley Digges, and Hattie McDaniel. (90 minutes, 1935)

Remember, be creative and use phrases like "Download Music Video". Try a different search if the first one does not provide good information. See if "Legal Movie Download Sites" gets a better result.
