The Different Ways Of Using The Kinesio Taping Method

By Bart Icles

The kinesio taping method is being regarded as the best taping method that has ever been invented. A lot of people would really agree since the kinesio taping method promotes movement instead of inhibiting it. Not only that, it is able to promote circulation, making sure that the circulatory and the neurological systems of the body are functioning normally.

The kinesio taping method is applied to reduce inflammation and pain, to relax overextended muscles, and to support injuries on a daily basis. Today, a lot of popular athletes are patronizing the kinesio taping method over other taping methods because of the myriad of benefits that it offers. Some of its benefits are:

1. It is practical and more economical to use since a roll of it can last up to 10 applications and an application can be used up to 5 days without changing.

2. It is ideal to use since it is water-resistant, is elastic, is latex-free, is non-medicated, and is made of 100 percent cotton.

3. It comes in different shapes, sizes, and colors, making them more fashionable to use.

Medical practitioners from different fields are using the kinesio taping method and are widely propagating its use to their patients. Here are some of the most popular ways the kinesio taping method is used and how to apply them:

1. Shoulder Kinesio Taping Method. The Y-shaped kinesio tape is recommended for shoulder injuries. You need to place the base of the tape at the middle portion of the upper arm then wrap them around the shoulder muscles. To optimize the healing, use the I-shaped tape as well and apply it in the middle of the Y-shaped tape.

2. Neck Kinesio Taping Method. The Y-shaped kinesio tape is most commonly used for neck injuries. The tail should be at nape with the tails extended to the sides of the spine. An I-shaped kinesio tape should be placed as well on top of the Y-strip near the affected area.

3. Leg Kinesio Taping Method. To apply kinesio tape to leg injuries effectively, you should apply it while sitting down with your leg extended. The base of the Y-shaped tape should be in front og the thigh. Wrap the tails around the kneecap. To be able to maximize healing, use another Y-shaped tape, this time, slightly below the knee and wrap the tails around the kneecap again.

4. Back Kinesio Taping Method. The I-shaped tape are used for the back. Apply them above the tailbone and extend them up along the two sides of the spine. Place another I-shaped tape on top of the strained area to maximize healing effect.

5. Arm Kinesio Taping Method. The X-shape tape is most effective for arm injuries. The base of the X-shaped tape should be placed on the inside of the wrist while the opposite tails should be placed towards the outer and inner sides of the joints of the elbow. An I-shaped tape should be added around the wrist to maximize healing effect.

The kinesio taping method can be used for other types of illnesses. Learning how to apply them properly to be able to maximize their healing effects can be learned through seminars and books dedicated for the matter.
